Opening the Door to Possibility: The Story Behind Wildly Open
We remember that day so clearly. It had been a long one and we made a last minute decision to grab dinner, sushi. We bonded over life’s struggles and successes, shared our favourite marketing campaigns, until seemingly out of nowhere, Courtney suggested: “We should start a business”. While it would take several years for that idea to come to life, in that moment, it felt exactly right, what we were meant to do.
A Leap Into Something New
The idea of starting our own company didn’t always seem like the obvious path for Heather. “I never thought I’d call myself an entrepreneur. For years, I climbed the corporate ladder, thriving as a generalist, loving complex challenges, and finding meaning in helping others succeed. But as I started to put miles on my career odometer, I got to the point where I felt the pull, the one that drew me to something larger, with impact and purpose.”
For Courtney, owning a business was not something she thought she would ever do again. She put it out to the world that she broke up with entrepreneurship. But a year of parental leave seeing the world through her daughter’s eyes gave entrepreneurship a whole new meaning. “I realized I wanted to build something that reflected the kind of world I want her to grow up in—one where I am choosing curiosity over comfort, flexibility over formality, courage over complacency.”
Sometimes change doesn’t come in a big, bold moment—it unfolds slowly, until one day, you realize you’ve already stepped into it.
Why Now?
We know now—right now— is the perfect time to bring Wildly Open to life. The marketing landscape is evolving faster than ever. Consumer expectations are shifting, platforms are changing, and brands need to be more agile, authentic, and engaging. After years of working inside organizations, we saw firsthand how slow and arduous change can feel. But supporting brands from the outside? That’s where real agility happens. Businesses are looking for fresh perspectives, nimble strategies, and partners who are as invested in their success as they are. That’s exactly what we can deliver.
Embracing Change
Wildly Open was born to empower others to thrive in the face of challenge and change. We design customized strategies and tools to help brands tackle industry shifts, environmental impacts, and market disruptions head-on with clarity and confidence. Disruption isn’t something to be feared—to us, it’s opportunity. The key isn’t just reacting to change—it’s proactively shaping what comes next—so brands can turn uncertainty into a competitive advantage.
We’re also not afraid to stand for something. That’s why we made the decision not to put our brand on Meta—no Facebook, no Instagram. It just doesn’t align with who we are—we believe in marketing that aligns with values, not just visibility.
What values do you hold? We take the time to truly understand our clients—their challenges, their goals, and their wildest ambitions—so we can craft marketing strategies that create authentic, strategic, and wildly effective connections between brands and their audiences. We mix the art and science of marketing, pairing bold creative ideas with data-driven execution. Every campaign, every piece of content, every brand touchpoint is built to make an impact.
